Kahoy Café Cebu Review: Cozy Date Night, Delicious Food & Must-Try Drinks
Monday, July 6
Looking for a cozy café in Cebu for your next date night? If you're craving comforting food, handcrafted drinks, and a relaxing atmosphere, Kahoy Café might just be your next favorite spot.
My husband and I recently spent one fine evening at Kahoy Café, and it turned into one of those simple yet memorable dates that reminded us how important it is to slow down and reconnect.
Here's everything we loved about our experience.
First Impressions
From the moment we arrived, Kahoy Café lived up to its name.
The café has a warm, nature-inspired ambiance with wood accents, cozy lighting, and a peaceful atmosphere that instantly makes you want to stay a little longer. Whether you're catching up with friends, working remotely, or enjoying a quiet date, it's the kind of place that feels welcoming and comfortable.
One of the things I appreciated most was how relaxing the environment was. It wasn't overly loud, making it easy to enjoy conversations over dinner and coffee.
What We Ordered
Of course, no café visit is complete without trying the food—and Kahoy Café definitely did not disappoint.
🍝 Carbonara Pasta
The Carbonara Pasta was rich, creamy, and flavorful without feeling too heavy.
The sauce coated every strand of pasta beautifully, making it a comforting meal that paired perfectly with our drinks. If you're a fan of creamy pasta dishes, this is definitely worth ordering.
Rating: ★★★★★
🍦 Truffle Ice Cream
This was easily the highlight of our visit.
The Truffle Ice Cream had a unique flavor profile that was both indulgent and memorable. It offered the perfect balance of sweetness and richness, making it a dessert you'll likely keep thinking about long after your visit.
If you're only ordering one dessert at Kahoy Café, make it this one.
Rating: ★★★★★
🍵 Matcha Lattte
As someone who enjoys matcha, I found their Matcha Frappé smooth, refreshing, and not overly sweet.
It had a pleasant earthy flavor while still being creamy enough to satisfy anyone looking for a refreshing café drink.
Rating: ★★★★★
☕ Coffee Frappé
Coffee lovers will also appreciate their Coffee Frappé.
It was smooth, refreshing, and had just the right balance between coffee flavor and sweetness—perfect for winding down after a busy day.
Rating: ★★★★★
The Atmosphere
One of the biggest reasons we'd happily return isn't just the food—it's the ambiance.
Kahoy Café has that cozy charm that's perfect for:
Date nights
Catching up with friends
Solo coffee dates
Working remotely
Weekend brunches
Celebrating small milestones
Reading a good book
The natural wood interiors and calming vibe create an inviting space where you can truly slow down and enjoy the moment.
Why We Loved It
As busy parents and entrepreneurs, life can become incredibly hectic.
Between work, deadlines, household responsibilities, and raising a family, it's easy to forget how important quality time is.
This simple café date reminded us that we don't always need extravagant vacations or expensive celebrations.
Sometimes, all you need is:
good food,
meaningful conversations,
delicious coffee,
and uninterrupted time together.
Those simple moments often become the ones we treasure most.
Is Kahoy Café Worth Visiting?
Absolutely.
If you're looking for a café in Cebu that offers delicious comfort food, refreshing drinks, cozy interiors, and a relaxing atmosphere, Kahoy Café deserves a spot on your list.
My Favorites
❤️ Truffle Ice Cream
❤️ Carbonara Pasta
❤️ Matcha Frappé
❤️ Coffee Frappé
These are the items I'd happily order again on my next visit.
Tips Before You Visit
Visit during the evening if you're looking for a cozy and romantic atmosphere.
Bring your camera or phone—the café has several Instagram-worthy corners.
Save room for dessert. The Truffle Ice Cream is a must-try.
Make it a slow date. Don't rush your meal—enjoy the conversations and the relaxing ambiance.
Final Thoughts
One of the greatest lessons marriage has taught me is that love grows in the ordinary moments.
A quiet dinner.
A shared dessert.
Coffee after a long day.
Laughter over simple conversations.
Those little moments become the memories we carry with us.
Our evening at Kahoy Café wasn't just about trying good food—it was about intentionally spending time together.
If you're planning your next café date in Cebu, I highly recommend giving Kahoy Café a visit.
You might leave with a full stomach, a happy heart, and a few beautiful memories of your own.

Why Slow Travel Is Perfect for Families with Young Kids
Tuesday, January 6
Traveling with young kids can feel overwhelming—tantrums, missed naps, picky eating, and exhausted parents by Day 2. If you’ve ever come home from a “vacation” needing another vacation, you’re not alone.
This is exactly why slow travel is becoming a favorite travel style for families with young children.
Instead of rushing from one tourist spot to another, slow travel focuses on fewer places, longer stays, and meaningful experiences—making travel more enjoyable for both parents and kids.
Let’s talk about why slow travel works so well for families and how it can completely change the way you travel with your little ones.
What Is Slow Travel?
Slow travel is a mindset, not just an itinerary.
It means:
Staying longer in one destination
Planning fewer activities per day
Allowing time for rest, play, and spontaneity
Experiencing daily local life instead of checking off tourist spots
For families with young kids, this approach feels less like a race—and more like living gently in a new place.
1. Less Stress for Parents
When you’re not rushing to catch the next tour or beat traffic to the next attraction, stress levels drop instantly.
Slow travel allows you to:
Wake up without alarm clocks
Adjust plans based on your child’s mood
Skip activities without guilt
Enjoy moments instead of managing schedules
Parents stay calmer, and kids feel it too.
2. Better Sleep, Meals, and Routines for Kids
Young kids thrive on routine—and slow travel respects that.
With longer stays:
Nap times are protected
Bedtimes remain consistent
Meals don’t feel rushed or skipped
Kids adapt faster to the new environment
Instead of overtired meltdowns, you get happier, more cooperative little travelers.
3. One Main Activity a Day Is Enough
In slow travel, one meaningful activity per day is already a win.
For example:
Morning beach time, afternoon rest
Playground visit, then café break
Local market stroll, early bedtime
This pacing gives kids time to explore without exhaustion—and parents time to actually enjoy the moment.
4. More Meaningful Family Bonding
When you’re not glued to schedules or screens, something beautiful happens.
You start to:
Talk more
Laugh more
Notice small moments
Create memories that feel real, not rushed
Slow travel turns ordinary moments—walking to a bakery, watching sunsets, journaling together—into cherished family memories.
5. Kids Learn Through Experience, Not Pressure
Slow travel gives children space to:
Observe local culture
Hear new languages
Try new food at their own pace
Ask questions naturally
There’s no pressure to “perform” or behave perfectly in packed tours. Learning becomes organic and joyful.
6. Budget-Friendly for Families
Surprisingly, slow travel often costs less.
You save money by:
Booking longer stays with discounts
Cooking simple meals instead of eating out every time
Walking or using public transport
Avoiding expensive, rushed tours
For families, this means better value without sacrificing comfort.
7. More Flexibility When Things Go Wrong (Because They Will)
Kids get sick. Weather changes. Moods shift.
Slow travel gives you the flexibility to:
Cancel plans without stress
Stay in and rest guilt-free
Move activities to another day
Prioritize your child’s needs
Instead of ruining the trip, these moments become part of the journey.

Sample Slow Travel Day for a Family with Young Kids
Here’s what a slow travel day might look like:
Morning: Easy breakfast + short walk
Late Morning: One main activity (beach, park, museum)
Afternoon: Nap time or quiet play
Evening: Early dinner + sunset stroll
Night: Storytime and rest
Simple. Calm. Enjoyable.
Slow Travel Teaches Kids a Healthier Way to See the World
Instead of learning that travel means rushing and exhaustion, kids learn that:
Travel can be peaceful
New places don’t need to be overwhelming
Being present matters more than doing everything
These lessons stay with them long after the trip ends.

Slow travel reminds us that family travel isn’t about seeing everything—it’s about being together.
For families with young kids, slow travel offers:
Less stress
Happier children
More meaningful memories
A deeper connection as a family
Sometimes, the best trips aren’t the busiest ones—but the ones where you finally slow down enough to enjoy them.

Monday, January 5 KM142, Samboan, 6027 Cebu, Philippines
Sometimes, what we really need isn’t a grand vacation—but a quiet place to breathe, rest, and reconnect. That’s exactly what we found during our stay at Fantasy Lodge Cebu, and it’s a place I’ll always remember as one of our most peaceful getaways.
If you’re a mom who’s craving a reset, a family looking for a slow and meaningful Cebu staycation, or even someone planning a solo or couple’s escape, this place might be exactly what you’re looking for.
Why We Chose Fantasy Lodge Cebu
Life gets busy—especially as a mom. Between work, family, and everyday responsibilities, planning a trip can sometimes feel more stressful than relaxing. I wanted a place that felt calm, safe, and close to nature, without the pressure of crowds or overpacked itineraries.
Fantasy Lodge Cebu is located in Samboan, Southern Cebu, and is a peaceful base for exploring Aguinid Falls and the lush waterfalls nearby
Fantasy Lodge Cebu gave us that gentle balance:
Quiet surroundings
Beautiful sea and nature views
A welcoming, homey atmosphere
Space to slow down and simply be present
From the moment we arrived, everything felt unhurried—and honestly, that was the biggest luxury.

The Stay: Cozy, Comfortable, and Family-Friendly
Our room was simple but thoughtfully designed—clean, comfortable, and surrounded by greenery and ocean views. Waking up to fresh air and natural light instantly set the tone for the day.
What I appreciated most was how family-friendly the place felt. It’s the kind of resort where kids can move freely, parents can relax without worry, and everyone feels at ease. No loud crowds, no pressure—just peaceful living.
Food, Rest & Small Joys
One of my favorite parts of our stay was not having to rush anywhere. Meals were relaxed, mornings were slow, and afternoons were spent resting or enjoying the view.
There’s something healing about eating good food, sipping coffee while listening to the waves, and realizing you don’t have to be “productive” every minute. This place gently reminds you that rest is allowed.
Nature, Waterfalls & Nearby Adventures
If you love nature, Fantasy Lodge Cebu is surrounded by beautiful places to explore. Nearby waterfalls, snorkeling spots, and scenic views make it easy to add a bit of adventure—without overwhelming your schedule.
But what I loved most? You can also choose to do nothing at all. Stay by the pool, take quiet walks, or simply sit and reflect. As a mom, that freedom felt priceless.
Who I’d Recommend This Place For
I truly believe Fantasy Lodge Cebu is perfect for:
Moms needing rest and mental clarity
Families who value slow travel
Couples wanting quiet connection
Solo travelers seeking peace and reflection
It’s not about luxury in the flashy sense—it’s about intentional rest, presence, and simple joy.

Family Escapade at Basdaku, Moalboal Cebu | Sand, Sun, and Sweet Memories
Sunday, December 28
There’s nothing quite like escaping the busy rhythm of everyday life and heading to the sea with the people you love most. Our recent family adventure in Basdaku, Moalboal was the perfect mix of fun, rest, and unforgettable moments.
Just a few hours from Cebu City, Basdaku (which literally means “big sand”) welcomed us with its powdery white beach, clear turquoise waters, and laid-back vibes that instantly made us feel at home. As soon as we arrived, the kids kicked off their slippers and ran straight to the shore, giggling with excitement. Laagan mode: ON!
Beach Bliss
The beach stretched endlessly with fine sand that was soft on our feet—perfect for barefoot strolls and spontaneous sandcastle contests. The water? Calm, clear, and inviting. We swam, snorkeled, and even spotted a few colorful fish close to the shore!
Simple Joys, Shared Meals
One of the highlights? Our picnic-style lunch by the beach. Fresh grilled fish, puso, and everyone's favorite—mangga with bagoong. There's something extra special about eating with your hands under the shade of coconut trees, surrounded by laughter and stories.
Sunset Magic
As the day wound down, the golden-hour glow lit up the sky. The kids chased the waves while we watched the sun dip into the horizon—a perfect reminder of what really matters: family, connection, and being present.
Snaps and Smiles
We snapped tons of photos, but honestly, the best memories were the ones we didn’t catch on camera. Like the salty hugs, shared jokes, and that quiet moment watching the kids fall asleep after a day full of sunshine.
Why We’ll Keep Coming Back to Basdaku:
It’s family-friendly and safe for kids
Clean, peaceful, and not too crowded
Beautiful views + affordable accommodations
A short trip that feels like a full recharge
If you’re looking for a beach escape with your loved ones, Basdaku, Moalboal is a gem worth visiting. It’s not just about the destination—it’s about the memories you make together. And this trip? Definitely one for the books. 💛
